Tennis Elbow

Common Conditions Treated by Our Chiropractors:

  1. Tennis Elbow (Lateral Epicondylitis): Tennis elbow is characterized by pain and tenderness on the outer part of the elbow. It is often caused by repetitive gripping or lifting motions, not just in tennis players. The pain can be sharp and burning, particularly when using the forearm muscles. Rest and specific exercises can help alleviate this condition.

  2. Golfer’s Elbow (Medial Epicondylitis): Golfer’s elbow causes discomfort and tenderness on the inner part of the elbow, typically due to repetitive wrist flexion and gripping activities. It can result in an ache or discomfort when flexing the wrist or fingers.

  3. Bursitis: Elbow bursitis involves swelling and pain over the bursa, a sac-like structure at the tip of the elbow. This condition is often linked to repetitive pressure or trauma. Symptoms include swelling, redness, and pain during elbow movement.

  4. Olecranon Bursitis: Olecranon bursitis specifically affects the bursa at the bony tip of the elbow. It leads to pain, warmth, and the accumulation of fluid in the elbow area, often due to direct trauma or infection.

  5. Cubital Tunnel Syndrome: Cubital tunnel syndrome results from pressure on the ulnar nerve as it passes through the cubital tunnel (inner part of the elbow). Symptoms include numbness and tingling in the ring and pinky fingers, often accompanied by electric shock-like sensations and hand weakness.

  6. Radial Tunnel Syndrome: Radial tunnel syndrome causes pain in the forearm near the elbow, often radiating down the arm. It results from pressure on the radial nerve and can lead to aching, burning, or throbbing sensations in the forearm.

  7. Ulnar Collateral Ligament (UCL) Injury: The UCL is a critical ligament for elbow stability. An injury to this ligament can lead to pain along the inner side of the elbow, especially in athletes who throw or grip objects. It may result in instability, weakness, and pain during specific activities.

  8. Elbow Fracture (Excluded from Chiropractic Scope): Elbow fractures can occur in various parts of the elbow, causing severe pain, deformity, and an inability to move the joint. These require medical assessment and may involve surgery.

  9. Arthritis: Elbow arthritis causes pain throughout the elbow joint. It results from the wear and tear of cartilage and can lead to stiffness, reduced range of motion, and joint swelling.

  10. Little Leaguer’s Elbow: Common among young athletes, this condition causes pain and discomfort on the inner side of the elbow, often due to excessive throwing. Symptoms include swelling, pain, and difficulty in throwing or gripping objects.

  11. Osteochondritis Dissecans: Osteochondritis dissecans affects the deep layers of the elbow joint. It results in aching pain, joint locking, and limited movement. It often occurs in younger individuals and may require surgical intervention.

  12. Tendinitis (Various Types): Tendinitis involves pain and tenderness around the tendon insertion points at the elbow. It is commonly associated with overuse and can lead to pain, inflammation, and discomfort.

  13. Elbow Sprain: Elbow sprains can affect various ligaments around the elbow, causing pain, swelling, instability, and limited range of motion. The specific ligament involved determines the symptoms.

  14. Radial Head Subluxation (Nursemaid’s Elbow):This condition involves the partial dislocation of the radial head near the elbow. It leads to severe pain, particularly when attempting to bend or use the affected arm.

  15. Overuse Injuries: Overuse injuries can manifest in various ways, resulting in pain and discomfort in and around the elbow. Symptoms depend on the specific overuse condition and may include pain, stiffness, and reduced performance.
